However, she doesn't seem to use the stereotypical justifications (" I can change you", "He was just having a bad day"), and is (as noted) originally creeped out by Edward's hostile behavior towards her (though she is, amusingly, always Distracted by the Sexy). She is put off by Edward when he first acts gruff with her, but, weirdly enough, is never deterred by him stalking or manhandling her, nor by the knowledge that he has killed hundreds of people. All Girls Want Bad Boys: She wants to date Edward even though he is "dangerous," and also starts to gain interest in Jacob only after he becomes a werewolf.Bella herself, though, is pretty delicate: she nearly fainted just from smelling a few drops of blood from part-way across the room. Afraid of Blood: It causes her to faint in the first book, though there is nothing delicate about it and her description of the incident.Kristen Stewart sported a wavy hairstyle in the films. Adaptational Hairstyle Change: In the novel, she's described as having silky straight hair.Finally, in Breaking Dawn Part 2, she actually gets to participate in the battle with the Volturi and takes out several vampires, including Aro himself with Edward's help, even though it does turn out to be only a vision. In Eclipse (2007), she cuts her arm with a rock to distract Victoria and Riley to help Edward (in the book, she merely contemplates stabbing herself with it, but the fight is over pretty quickly before she can do anything). ![]() She later uses pepper spray on James it doesn't do much, but points for trying. In Twilight (2005), when she's surrounded by creeps in Port Angeles she manages to knee one of them in the groin before Edward swoops in. Adaptational Badass: In the films, she gets a few moments that make her more badass than she was in the books.Then again, considering how much of a Dude Magnet she seems to be at her high school, she's presumably more attractive than she lets on. Adaptational Attractiveness: Bella thinks of herself as rather plain and unfashionable, while Kristen Stewart plays her in the movies.Played straight in the climax of the final film. Subverted in that she never actually gets to do any fighting in the end, and at most she hunts some mountain lions and deer which are no match at all for her vampire strength. Action Mom: After she has a child and becomes a vampire, in that order.She also claims to be quite plain in appearance, but takes pride in being very well read, and even moreso in being able to function by herself and having the wisdom of a woman twice her age. She describes herself as being klutzy, easily bruised and of weak constitution. But, rather than being shocked by this discovery, instead she decides she's in love with Edward leading them to hook up and venture into a forbidden love. It's only through a sequence of contrived events, she discovers that these God-like beauties are actually a clan of fabled creatures known as vampires. And among them, she meets her subsequent soulmate, Edward Cullen. Having gone in only expecting another ordinary stay at the town, she's met with a heavenly surprise when she spots an impossibly gorgeous group of newcomers known as the Cullens at her high school. After her mother gets remarried, she moves from Arizona to Forks to live with her father. Isabella "Bella" Swan is the main heroine of The Twilight Saga.
